So, as I stated in a previous post (Traveling North of the Boarder), Wes and I (in the picture to the left; both of the male sex) are planning a trip up the east coast to Canada for Spring Break 2010. We plan to spend eight days total. This means two full days driving and six days actually hanging out in Canada.
We decided to go to Montréal and Toronto, two of the bigger and more popular cities on the eastern side of Canada. I figure, I took three years of French in school and actually paid attention, I should do decently in Montréal. I hope I’m right. I know wes plans on using a French guide book if there’s not enough English. After Montréal, we’ll head over to Toronto. On the way up there, we’ll drive through Philadelphia, Pennsylvania so Wes can get his precious Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Then on the way home, we’ll stop at Niagara Falls (probably for lunch) just to see it since it’s on the way.
We realized when we sat down earlier that we don’t really have any plans on what to do while we’re there. We have a couple things planned for Toronto, but Montréal is wide open. We have no idea what there really is to do (If you have any ideas, please email me!). If all else fails, we can check out early and head over to Toronto. In Toronto, we’re (hopefully) going to catch up with my grandpa and/or uncle and find some good Chinese food. We’re also going to spend some time in Little Italy, Chinatown, and the other culture villages trying food and browsing the markets.
Right now, we’re planning to stay at hostels in Canada just because it’s far cheaper to stay there than a hotel, but who knows. We may break down and get a hotel just because none of the hostels are clean/up-kept enough for us.
All in all, it should be a pretty awesome trip. Even with the hostels, we should have a great time. Heck, I’ll probably even enjoy driving out of the way to get a Philly Cheesesteak just because it’ll be a new experience. We’ll have to make sure we take a bunch of pictures and update Facebook and the like while we’re on the road to keep everyone updated.
